There are many ways patients cover the cost of their surgery. Some have insurance benefits that cover weight loss surgery, while others pay out of pocket. If you decide to pursue the possibility of surgical weight loss surgery, we will work together with your surgeon's office and your insurance company to obtain written pre- authorization for your procedure. However, written approval from your insurance company is not a guarantee of payment. The Weight Loss Surgery Program will work with you and your insurance company to assist in providing the necessary medical/clinical information required. It is important that you review your policy prior to your consultation and consider policy limitations which may include pre-existing conditions or exclusions. It is your responsibility as the patient to discuss your benefit plan with each doctor that may participate in your care.
The services of certain program professionals may be necessary before or during your surgery. Please be aware that some insurance policies provide different benefits to hospitals than to physicians. You or your insurance company may be billed separately by any or all of the following:
