
Dr. Frank Veninga recently received the Center of Excellence designation in Bariatric Surgery along with Trinity Medical Center from the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery. Dr. Veninga serves as the Medical Director for Trinity’s Surgical Weight Loss Program.
Dr. Veninga is a native of Dallas, Texas. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He initially spent one year in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa.; then switched to General Surgery residency at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas. His Fellowship was in Surgical Endoscopy at Mt. Sinai in Cleveland. Dr. Veninga went into private practice in 1987 and has been active in Bariatric Surgery since 1999, and performed his first Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass in 2000 and his first LAP-BAND in 2003. Dr. Veninga currently offers the LAP-BAND surgery.
Dr. Veninga is married and has 4 children. In his spare time Dr. Veninga enjoys his children and family, reading and swimming.

Dr. Daryl A. Stewart is a native of Denton, Texas. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. After completing his surgical residency at Akron General Medical Center in Ohio, Dr. Stewart went into practice with a group of surgeons in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ten years later he decided to move home to Texas in order to be closer to his family.
Dr. Daryl Stewart is married and has three children. In his spare time Dr. Stewart enjoys gardening, hunting, fishing, and coaching little league baseball. His patient care is influenced by strong Christian values and his desire to help patients to lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives.
Dr. Stewart has been active in Bariatric Surgery since 1997 and it is the current focus of his practice. Dr. Stewart performs Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, LAP-BAND®, and Duodenal Switch procedures.

Audrey Donaldson, our Bariatric Coordinator, passed the first exam offered for certification in bariatric nursing in June of 2007. The Certified Bariatric Nurse (CBN) Examination is designed to assess the professional competence of practitioners of Bariatric Nursing. Each candidate must demonstrate competence in all technical aspects of Bariatric Nursing commensurate with the standards established by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) for effective and safe patient care.
